waiting

every email i hoped it was from you
every message i hoped you had replied
all i'd heard were the down days we'd all had
we clouded our own concerns
with those of others around us
and i don't know you well enough
to know whether it was ok or not

perhaps i care too much
will it hurt
or will i let go?
