right, don't be expecting much this coming four weeks, because i'm at home.
we have dial-up internet at home. i think i'm about to die. as i check my emails, there are 26 in my hotmail inbox and 15 in my uni email. ARGH!!!

and orchestra, well, that happens. just wait till you get out of school..!!! i was completely blown away, but then you look back and think, "man, that was such a good time!" i hardly play in orchestras anymore (although i will be playing hopefully in two next semester, perhaps a few more soon-ish..??) and they were fun times while they lasted.

i got home alright!
can't believe it's the holidays. it has just crept up on me! so, i'm at home. my plans are:
sleep, eat well, practice a lot, hopefully get a job, relax.
so, staying at the vic was fun!!!
this is how it all went:
thursday night, moved out of queen's. it took ALL DAY thursday to pack up my room, didn't get round to much else!
friday, was out of the house by about 11am, headed to queen's to practice and to get some fish & chips on fish and chip friday...:S then headed down to ABC on southbank for piano lesson. it was really nice to be back there....it actually is a really really really swanky kinda place! you know, visitor's pass and all. nice 9-foot piano...and this is just for practicing! haha. :P steinway, here i come, all the way from hamburg!
didn't get to play much, as we were putting in the fingering for Ravel's Ondine from Gaspard de la Nuit. Yep, it took about an hour and a half to get through about four-fifths! it's that complex :) should be heaps of fun though. it's alright that i didn't get to play much, because i haven't really practiced for about a week and a half...eep! then after that, i met Wen in the city for some shopping. bought a (fake, you know, not do up yourself) black bow tie for my brother..he needs one, because he has a few formal, black-tie functions to attend at ALSA in melbourne next week (like, yeah, what the, he is in melbourne and i'm not! how uncool is that?!?!) and a top from portmans...i think i like it :) then headed back to college (see, it's like i haven't moved out AT ALL!!! haha) and we waited for tom and sze to come up from mount martha so that we could get some dinner. :)
is was heaps late, we ended up going to Ying Thai on lygon and had dinner at about 9.45! woah! that's ok. :) it was yummy, a bit spicy, but fun. first time i had thai, i think....! it was good :) we got gelate on the way up, ran into renee and ting and ting's mum, which was cute :) mm....gelate..!!!
then headed home. seriously, now i know what it's like to be a day student...you gotta carry EVERYTHING around with you all day! what a bummer! but hey, it was fun. :) seriously, it felt like i didn't stay at the vic, because i was out for basically the whole day, i was only there to use the bathroom, and go to bed! haha:P
on saturday, i went for brunch at gareth's flat, brunch cooked by gareth and tamzin. bacon, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms, avocado toast, tomatoes. just beautiful!!! :) i haven't had a really good brunch in ages!!! then had to head off back to southbank for another piano lesson, which didn't go for as long. headed home, then hung out at the vic for alittle while. went out for dinner with steph that night down lygon yum yum :) papa gino's!!! it was great to catch up with her. i was surprised when she commented, "i'm so disappointed that you don't have a boyfriend yet!" hahaha. [hey, secret admirer...haha. just kidding :P ] HAH. ok. it was a good night. i went to koko black to get a few things (yum..!) was walking back up lygs to go home (at liike, 10) and was passing by inkari, and it had that LIVE LATIN BAND that does saturday nights!!!
guys, (xing...!) we should SO go there! there were ppl dancing and stuff. it looked like so much fun! i seriously stood outside inkari for about 20mins just listening and watching. tres cool. there was a guy sitting outside (ok, he was kinda cute), and i just was hoping he'd come up and go "wanna dance?" haha. my imagination is too enthusaistic! alas, it was not meant to be, but oh well! it was really awesome! so next sem, if we're bored on a saturday night, we shall just head down just to hear them, and to dance :)
chris, pete and jonty went to jim's 21st on sat night. :) apparently it was quite good. no mel, i didn't go........don't berate me now. :) remember, it's all about i got an invite. being quadruple booked it not my fault. :)
haha. pete and jonty cooking pasta. too cute (ahem, i didn't saythat...) jonty's song is really cool! (randomly, jonty, if you do read this, i gotta hear this one recorded. please :) the chord progressions are too cool. it's very cullum-esque, but as you say, it's true, you don't think about writing a song like JC, it just happens to turn out that way, because of influences and all. i really like this one!) ooh, and i should forward you this thingo...hang on..
sunday was really relaxing! it was the laze-around day, i stayed at the vic basically all day! i relaxed, i schlooped. i watched a whole heap of scrubs, went to thresherman's to get some lunch with pete (this was a new experience, i mean, going to thresherman's...like, i've heard ALL about it but never actually GONE there. it's nice :) ) then hung out more, did not much. chris and i went to the shops to get food for dinner...we ended up cooking tofu and veges in sweet and sour sauce (with rice). it was FANTASTIC!!! haha. i can't believe how much i missed cooking! pete refused to eat tofu...apparently not a man's thing... :P haha. ("can you get me some sort of facewash? a manly one.") and it's not something like the Steak Song..(good times, good times...)
anyway, went to church that night. it was good. :) smaller crowd, but that's what you get when holidays roll round :) that's ok. :)
didn't get up to much after that.
i gotta say, living in a full house on saturday night (and fairly full for the rest of the weekend!) was heaps of fun :) nice people, great company. it was all really good. :) thanks heaps to chris and flick, you guys were the BEST!

darn
i have posted revue photos.
and i did again.
oh well. here they are :) enjoy. because they're specifically revue photos
anyway, about the revue.
it was fun :) it's always fun to play for the queen's crowd.
i played with jacquie in cityscapes and for ben&treas' "sweet violets". great fun, i tell you :)
erm, what to do?
it was a very star-studded show. the talent in queen's just keeps getting better and better (not to say that last year's crowd, or show, weren't good!) but the pool just keeps shooting for the stars! hehe :P
it was a fun night. i didn't end up going to the afterparty..i was wayyy too tired, it was FREEZING, and luckily that i didn't go, it started raining. just not a very good equation for ease of transport (ie. walking). i had heaps of fun doing the revue. congratulations to everybody involved...you guys were ALL great (ok, sure, i have personal faves, but you know, not that anybody was bad or anything! i'm just biased.....hehe!) and thanks to all the crew - you guys helped us soo much!
on for the next production, cloudstreet. it should be really good! if i'm involved or not, i'm sure it will be fantastic and lots of fun!

so, how did my commerce exams go?
INTRODUCTORY ECONOMETRICS
This went ok, i think. i felt pretty comfortable with it (hopefully the mark reflects this!). jess and i had done HEAPS and HEAPS of revision and work and study for this subject! so, i did manage to get through it and all. except with about thirty seconds to go, i realised that i had turned over a page in my script book, as well as my question page and had missed out on answering question 6h)! it seriously jumped from part g to i. how did that happen?? how did i manage to let it happen? oh well. i scribbled down a little bit (in about ten seconds, not kidding!) hopefully i get one mark for it...it was out of four. oh well....top mark i can get is 96! oh well. it's over. that felt ok...so hopefully it did actually go ok!
BUSINESS IN THE GLOBAL ECONOMY
it has been four weeks i've been waiting for this exam. i wasn't sure if i had studied enough. you never do, i think. i felt quite confident that i couldn't stuff any more information into my head. so, off i went..! crap, the multi choice was hard! well, definitely harder than the online practice questions. there were heaps that had two possible answers, and you have to choose just one! so hopefully i scored more than 50% on the multichoice..*fingers crossed!* the short answer was ok.....i hope! and then the essay. *sigh*. i think i just happen to make life hard for myself.
See, we got a choice of seven questions. so, of course, i had to pick a fairly obscure topic. it read something like this: "Globalisation has reduced the cultural differences between countries. An international firm seeking global strategies can do so without risk of failure." Of course, I picked this one so that i could argue "NO!!" quite vehemently! There were options that required me to analyse entry modes (which had much longer questions, you know, with more info and stuff...that tends to happen..)
anyway, my essay ended up being very very art-sy. not that it's bad, but i don't know how relevant it all was. oh well, can't do anything about it now. but all i can do is hope..!!! and hope that somebody nice (eg. andre) marks it, and likes it....!!!
ooh, congratulations to chris for getting a job at PWC! if you read this, awesome. if not, whatever. it's just nice to know people who do well and clearly life is going well for him..it sounds like it! good luck, best wishes, it's good to have known someone who worked so hard - i really appreciated it all. :)

home stretch
ok, so i've just done my first, well, what you'd call a written exam. (although a listening test was kinda written exam....that's not the point).
i trooped to REB, exam-style. and i always forget how beautiful that place is. or how BIG it is, and how many students it can hold!!!
well, i'd studied all weekend for econometrics. sigh. we did practice exams, we revised and revised, we read over and over the notes. i did all my tute questions again. etc. sigh.
and now it's all packed up. 'tis time to move onto Global...!
mel moved out on thursday. sniff. ben went home on friday. adrienne and her mum and all of about seven suitcases made it home on saturday. saw jonty on sunday, but he too, headed home. xing went home sunday afternoon.
everybody's leaving. that is the saddest thing about end of semesters. exams aren't sad, they're just kinda inconvenient sometimes..!
the corridor is starting to feel somewhat empty. by the middle of the week, it shall be even emptier. i sometimes wish that i stayed in melbourne over breaks and that, because this city has so much to do. but then i realise, it wouldn't be half the fun that i anticipate, because there'd be no one to do it with. while there is much to do in melbourne, half the fun is created by who you do it with.
anyway, i am feeling quite relieved that intro econometrics is over. i'm just hoping it went well. i think it went ok. so oh well..can't change it now. but i'd hate to repeat it. or fail it. or come close to it. heck, i put hard demands on myself...i want a H1 in this!!! (heck, i want a H1 in everything..! no...that's not hard or anything....!)
so, two days to study. and pack up my room. completely. urgh. i hate packing with a passion. especially packing my room up. that has got to be the worst bit.
while i'm only going home next monday morning, i'm still under time pressures! always!
things to do before I go:

i trooped to REB, exam-style. and i always forget how beautiful that place is. or how BIG it is, and how many students it can hold!!!
well, i'd studied all weekend for econometrics. sigh. we did practice exams, we revised and revised, we read over and over the notes. i did all my tute questions again. etc. sigh.
and now it's all packed up. 'tis time to move onto Global...!
mel moved out on thursday. sniff. ben went home on friday. adrienne and her mum and all of about seven suitcases made it home on saturday. saw jonty on sunday, but he too, headed home. xing went home sunday afternoon.
everybody's leaving. that is the saddest thing about end of semesters. exams aren't sad, they're just kinda inconvenient sometimes..!
the corridor is starting to feel somewhat empty. by the middle of the week, it shall be even emptier. i sometimes wish that i stayed in melbourne over breaks and that, because this city has so much to do. but then i realise, it wouldn't be half the fun that i anticipate, because there'd be no one to do it with. while there is much to do in melbourne, half the fun is created by who you do it with.
anyway, i am feeling quite relieved that intro econometrics is over. i'm just hoping it went well. i think it went ok. so oh well..can't change it now. but i'd hate to repeat it. or fail it. or come close to it. heck, i put hard demands on myself...i want a H1 in this!!! (heck, i want a H1 in everything..! no...that's not hard or anything....!)
so, two days to study. and pack up my room. completely. urgh. i hate packing with a passion. especially packing my room up. that has got to be the worst bit.
while i'm only going home next monday morning, i'm still under time pressures! always!

Q: Do we need to pass the exam in order to pass the subject?
A: It is not a requirement, no. I would strongly urge you attempt to pass however. A disastrous exam mark could see any one in this subject fail overall.

Feelings of loss
As I walked to uni today, the sun shone but it was still cold. Just perfect.
The path that is so familiar seemed so new - no classes mean no reason to go to uni. Fair enough.
I started thinking about the people who won't be walking this path anymore. People leaving. That's sad. Not because I feel like I'm being left behind, but because I'm content with the current situation. We get comfortable and unwilling to change. In this instance, I might call it symptoms of sadness.
Close friends are leaving...

Shock: Michael is leaving for three years to go to London to take up a PhD scholarship at KCL. Which is totally amazing, but THREE YEARS! And he's leaving this September.
Exchange students: the sad part about exchange is the leaving. Because you build amazing friendships which are only possible through exchange. Then have to leave them.
